SO WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?
Climate has always been changing. Wales was covered by ice 20,000 years ago.
However, in the past, climate change has been slower and animals and plants have been able to adjust by gradually migrating or evolving.
The problem now is that global temperatures are rising quickly and ecosystems cannot keep pace with these changes.
Why is it changing so quickly?
The concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has remained nearly constant for the last 10,000 years [since the last Ice Age].
However, in the last 100 years the concentration of greenhouse gases, especially Carbon dioxide, CO2 has rapidly increased.
There is a close correlation between CO2 concentrations and average global temperatures.
