STORMS - EXTREME EVENTS

The most damaging flooding occurs when there is an extreme event.

Extreme events are often the result of:

  • High tide
  • A severe low pressure weather system which, at the same time,
    • brings strong onshore winds
    • creates high waves
    • raises the height of the sea
