Council plan to ease Cardiff's congestion
Sep 27 2005

Two sites have been earmarked for an expanded park and ride scheme as efforts are stepped up to persuade commuters to leave their cars outside Cardiff city centre.

Land near the M4 could be available within three years.

Cardiff council is also keen to see if joint schemes could be provided on the western side of Newport - to service both cities - and with Rhondda Cynon Taf council.

The only park and ride with buses laid on now is provided for Saturday shoppers but the council wants to see an expanded scheme available seven days a week.

Highway officials are already predicting a 30 per cent growth in traffic in the capital over the next decade.
