Facts:
The Welsh Assembly Government strategy 2004
‘Most, but not all, of the opportunities for the generation of significant amounts of hydropower associated with existing dams within Wales have now been realised.’

Any further development will be on increasing efficiency in large schemes and encouraging small scale schemes.

In Wales, there are approximately 200 HEP schemes of varying size.
