Adapting a response
A student has given a response to the questions below. Their response is non-evaluative. Your task is to change the response so that it is evaluative, using what you have learned from the previous activities.
Question: “Is there a best way to interpret the birth narratives?"
Some would say that the best way of understanding the birth narratives is to see them as unhistorical, mythical and so they are not true. Some would also argue that they are full of unnecessary exaggeration and are there simply to entertain us as good stories. They are more relevant to children than to adults. Some may add that the events do not really teach us anything about the way for the Buddha. Others would say they are useful because they tell us about important teachings. Others would say they are useful because they tell us about the Buddha. They are relevant because they are part of Buddhist tradition. Finally, others would argue that they help a Buddhist focus.
