“Glamis thou art, and Cawdor - and shalt be what thou art promised!”

Fails to kill Duncan:
“Had he not resembled/My father as he slept, I had done’t.”

“Look to the lady!”
Signs of rift between Lady Macbeth and Macbeth. Shift in power balance?
“Why do you keep alone
Of sorriest fancies your companions making…
….What’s done is done.”
Banquet – she can’t see Banquo’s ghost, but saves Macbeth from blurting out truth:
“Why do you make such faces? When all’s done,
You look but on a stool.”
Sleepwalking scene – apparently tormented by guilt:
“Yet who would have thought the old man to have had so much blood in him?”
News of her death brought to Macbeth, who seems almost desensitised:
“She should have died hereafter
There would have been a time for such a word.”
