Is there any way that this could be shared on the school website? It's a revision overview for y11 and we wanted parents to be able to see it. Year 11 already ha e a hard copy.
If its something you need parents to see then it'll be Richard's domain with the website.
Clearly not identical in form of address used, but as first is still informal this seems to be for speed rather than a difference in status between the two (‘reply’ button being clicked automatically may result in this – no need for greeting as it was an immediate response). In first text, salutation is placed traditionally at top of text separated from body of message by a space, but unlike a traditional letter, opener uses informal exclamation (also note use of US English).
Second message much shorter as merely a reply in a work setting. Message thread is purely transactional in its purpose so there is no need for phatic communication.
