Applying Theory: Media Effects (Albert Bandura)

Albert Bandura conducted experiments with children to see if the media that they are exposed to would make them aggressive…he showed children a film where a clown ‘Bobo’ doll was attacked. He then left them alone with the same doll to see what they would do…

He felt that this demonstrated the idea that media representations of transgressive behaviour, such as violence or physical aggression, can lead audience members to imitate those forms of behaviour.

What aspects of Assassin’s Creed III Liberation could be imitated?

Do you think this experiment demonstrated that children would be violent to other children?

How does regulation seek to limit media effects?
