In order to deliver a service which meets people's individual needs and respects their diversity, services must be able to support Welsh language and culture by being able to communicate with people whose first language is Welsh.

Recent legislation regarding the Welsh language and developments in language policy in Wales required health and social care providers to ensure that they have appropriate and adequate staffing arrangements in place to provide bilingual Welsh and English services for people who use their services.

Er mwyn darparu gwasanaeth sy'n diwallu anghenion unigol pobl ac yn parchu eu hamrywiaeth, mae'n rhaid i wasanaethau allu cefnogi'r Gymraeg a diwylliant Cymru drwy allu cyfathrebu â phobl y mae'r Gymraeg yn iaith gyntaf iddynt.

Mae deddfwriaeth ddiweddar mewn perthynas â'r iaith Gymraeg a datblygiadau mewn polisi iaith yng Nghymru wedi'i gwneud yn ofynnol i ddarparwyr gwasanaethau iechyd a gofal cymdeithasol sicrhau eu bod wedi rhoi trefniadau staffio priodol a digonol ar waith i ddarparu gwasanaethau dwyieithog Cymraeg a Saesneg ar gyfer y bobl sy’n defnyddio’r gwasanaethau.

In order to deliver a service which meets people’s individual needs and respects their diversity, services must be able to support Welsh language and culture by being able to communicate with people whose first language is Welsh.

Recognising that the ability to speak Welsh is a skill of its own, which should be valued and used in a positive manner in the workplace will ensure that it is seen as a professional skill. In the health and social care sector it is a communication skill that is essential for some jobs and desirable for others. In many instances, as referenced in the More than Just Words strategy, it’s a vital skill for working with individuals and families.

Yn y sector iechyd a gofal cymdeithasol, mae'n sgil cyfathrebu sy'n hanfodol ar gyfer rhai swyddi ac yn ddymunol ar gyfer rhai eraill. Mewn llawer o achosion, fel y nodir yn strategaeth Mwy na Geiriau, mae'n sgil hollbwysig ar gyfer gweithio gydag unigolion a theuluoedd.
