Performance and professional development goals

There are various ways in which to evaluate or assess our knowledge, understanding and practice as a worker in the health and social care profession. This is done against relevant standards and information so that we can gauge our behaviour and practice against expectations set out by our organisation and codes of conduct and professional practice.

Sources of support within the organisation may be:

  • supervision
  • support with reflective practice, e.g. reflecting on an incident
  • appraisal
  • informal feedback.

Sources of support beyond the organisation may be:

  • feedback from colleagues in other health and social care organisations.
  • informal feedback from family and friends.
