        Principles and values

Yr egwyddorion a’r gwerthoedd sy’n sail i weithio mewn gofal, chwarae, dysgu a datblygiad plant

        Child care service

In order to be an effective childcare worker, it's important to be aware of the principles and values that underpin work in the education and early years sector. Listed below are some of the principles that support practice in children’s care, play, learning and development:

        • A personal and individual approach – as every child develops differently, childcare workers need to plan for each child's individual needs based on observations and assessments.
        • The child's interests – by observing and assessing children, and by being given information from parents/carers, childcare workers become aware of the child's interests. This information is necessary in order to plan activities that allow children to pursue their interests.
        • Positive relationships – childcare workers need to build and foster relationships with other staff members, children and their parents/carers.
        • Positive environment – there needs to be a safe environment that promotes the holistic development of children.
        • Outdoor learning – the outdoor area gives children opportunities to investigate and learn from direct experiences.

Mae’n bwysig eich bod yn ymwybodol o’r egwyddorion a’r gwerthoedd sy’n sail i weithio yn y sector addysg a’r blynyddoedd cynnar er mwyn bod yn gweithiwr gofal plant effeithiol. Rhai o’r egwyddorion sy’n cefnogi ymarfer mewn gofal, chwarae, dysgu a datblygiad plant yw:

        • Dull personol ac unigol – mae’n bwysig deall fod pob plentyn yn datblygu yn wahanol, felly mae angen i gweithwyr gofal plant cynllunio ar gyfer anghenion unigol pob plentyn yn seiliedig ar arsylwadau ac asesiadau.
        • Diddordebau’r plentyn – drwy arsylwi ac asesu plant, ac o wybodaeth gan rieni/gofalwyr gall gweithwyr gofal plant ddod i adnabod diddordebau’r plentyn. Mae’r wybodaeth hon yn angenrheidiol er mwyn cynllunio gweithgareddau sy’n caniatáu i blant dilyn eu diddordebau.
        • Perthnasau positif – mae angen i gweithwyr gofal plant adeiladu a meithrin perthnasoedd gydag aelodau eraill o staff, plant a’u rhieni/gofalwyr.
        • Amgylchedd positif – mae angen amgylchedd diogel sy’n hybu datblygiad holistig plant.
        • Dysgu yn yr awyr agored – mae’r ardal tu allan yn rhoi cyfleoedd i blant ymchwilio a dysgu drwy brofiadau uniongyrchol.
