Events and entertainment
Each village in Malta has its own saint’s day festival or festa. These events occur over weekends and include religious parades with brass bands and firework displays. An effigy (model) of the saint is carried at the front of the parade. The streets in the village have stalls selling food and drinks.
The festas are attended by tourists as well as local people.

A range of entertainment is provided for tourists especially in the villages which have become important resorts, such as Sliema and St Julian’s. Clubs and cinemas have been developed in the Bay Street complex. Bingo halls and pubs also provide entertainment.
